⚖️ Last Week's Verdict

Case #001: The Case of the Vanishing Week. The culprit was no front door. 🚪 Requests walked straight onto the founder's plate because nothing stood between her and the incoming work. The fix: one intake path that runs through the operator, protected time for priorities, and a 15-minute Monday huddle. Shout out to everyone who called it in the comments! 👏🏾

Last week we caught the thief who stole a founder's week. 🕵🏾♀️ This week's case hits a little closer to home. 🏠 Let's open the file. 📂

🔍 The Case File: Case #002, The Assistant Who Knew Too Little

🎬 The scene: A sharp, capable assistant keeps getting blindsided. A client calls about a deadline she never heard of. 📞 Her executive promised a board member a report "by Friday." She finds out Thursday afternoon. 😬 Her exec is frustrated: "Why didn't you know about this?"

🧩 The clues:

  1. 🚪 She isn't in leadership meetings. She gets a summary "when there's time."

  2. 💬 Her exec makes commitments on calls, in hallways, and over text.

  3. 📧 She learns most things from forwarded email chains, usually three days late.

🤔 Who's to blame? Drop your guess in the comments 👇🏾 The verdict drops tonight at 8 PM. 🕗

🛠️ Sunday Systems Drop: The "Let Me In" Script

Knowing you need access is one thing. Asking for it is another. 😅 Steal this and make it yours:

"I want to make sure nothing you commit to ever slips. Right now I'm finding out about some deadlines after they're already close. Could I either sit in on [meeting name] or grab five minutes with you at the end of each day to capture anything you've promised? It'll save you from having to follow up on things yourself."

🔎 Why it works:

  • 🎁 It leads with their benefit.

  • 🤝 It names the problem without blame.

  • ✔️ It gives two easy options to say yes to.

💌 Dear Operator

❓ A question I get all the time: "How do I stop being treated like 'just the assistant'?"

💬 Start by speaking in outcomes, not tasks. Instead of "I scheduled the meetings," say "I cleared two hours for the board prep by moving three internal syncs." 📊 People respect what they can see you decide, not just what you do. Visibility is a skill. Practice it out loud. 📣

👉🏾 Keep them coming! Drop your question in the comments, or DM me if you'd rather stay anonymous. 🤫
